Sociando-Mallet er grundlagt i 1633 og opkaldt efter to tidligere ejere. Da vinkøbmanden Jean Gautreau i 1969 tog over, var marker og bygninger i sørgelig stand. Vennerne Jean-Paul Gardère (Latour) og Jean-Michel Cazes (Lynch-Bages) fik overbevist den i dag pensionerede Jean Gautreau om de grusholdige markers exceptionelle beliggenhed, stik nord for nogle St-Estèphes topslotte. Resten er historie, og i dag drives vinslottet af datteren Sophie.

Selvom Sociando-Mallet på flere områder er fulgt med tiden, hyldes slottet og vinen ofte af ”traditionalister”, der værdsætter elegance og finesse fremfor power og fylde.

Ved køb af 6 flasker leveres vinen i original trækasse.

I would prefer to drink it on the young side given its mid-weight structure. The 2017 is not quite as overt as it was en primeur, but it is impeccably balanced and very nicely done. Cool savory accents round out the finish."
