Vennerne Jean-Paul Gardère (Latour) og Jean-Michel Cazes (Lynch-Bages) fik overbevist den i dag pensionerede Jean Gautreau om de grusholdige markers exceptionelle beliggenhed, stik nord for nogle St-Estèphes topslotte.
