Chateau Léoville Las Cases er kendt for at producere nogle af Bordeaux’ mest komplekse og lagringsværdige vine. Slottet hører til blandt St-Juliens bedste og flere eksperter mener, at kvaliteten her kan måle sig med 1. Cru Classé. Det afspejler sig også hos Robert Parker, der i 2016 gav slottets Grand Vin de perfekte 100 point.

Slottets stammer fra 1630’erne, men tog først navnet, Las Cases, 100 år senere, fra den daværende adelige ejer. Den franske revolution splittede slottet i tre dele, hvor man i dag har hjemme i den ældste bygning, Les Clos, hvorfra førstevinen fremstilles.

96/100 James Suckling "What a complex nose here with forest floor, bark, sliced wild mushrooms and tobacco. Full-bodied and round with very juicy, savory character. It long and flavorful with leather, forest flowers and mushrooms at the end. Drinking wonderfully now."

Lively and penetrating, it surpasses the 1989 in quality. Tasted 11th of August 2022"

94/100 Wine-Pages.com "Dark ruby with slight pink rim. Opulent rich balckcurrant/cassis nose. A lot of class and finesse on the palate. Very supple. Great depth/complexity. Still some toasty oak on finish. Very fine 1988 comparable to First Growths. Wonderful wine. Tasted 2-3 times in Bordeaux."
