”Tertre” betyder forhøjning, og Ch. du Tertre er blandt de højstliggende slotte i hele Margaux. Det gamle slot på det dybe grus har været beboet af historiske kendisser som Michel de Montaignes bror samt Marquis’en af Ségur.

Ret usædvanligt råder slottet over samme enkeltmark som i 1855. Med sine 52 ha én af Médocs største. Vinmæssigt det bedste slot i Arsac. Ch. du Tertre har været flyvende siden hollænderen Eric Albada Jelgersma tog over i 1997.

Allerede to år efter stod et topmoderne vineri klar, bygget op fra bunden. Ligesom ”søsterslottet” Giscours flirter du Tertre med biodynamisk dyrkning, mens ”grøn høst” fra snart 60 år gamle vinstokke vidner om skånselsløs prioritering af druekvalitet fremfor høstvolumen.
