“Fronsac and Canon-Fronsac… These two Right Bank appellations aren’t the first that come to mind when you think of Bordeaux. But in terms of value and potential they should be” - Decanter
Fronsac is back…

92-93/100 James Suckling ”Attractive blackberry, blueberry and hazelnut with some stone. It’s full-bodied with chewy tannins and a tar and asphalt undertone. Traditional and well done.”
93/100 Izak Litwar, Great Bordeaux Wines “A potent and concentrated wine with a deep nose of spicy black cherries, freshly crushed berries and fat tannin on nthe palate, bright acidity, fine complexity, structure and a long lingering finish. Terrific performance. It follows in the track of an excellent 2018!”
91-93/100 Robert Parker "The 2020 Carlmagnus has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and vivacious scents of redcurrant jelly, ripe black plums and boysenberries, plus hints of iron ore, black truffles, lavender and cracked black pepper. The medium to full-bodied palate fills the mouth with intense red and black fruit layers, supported by ripe, rounded tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing long and earthy."
92/100 Vert de Vin ”On the nose, fruity, distinguished and offers a little concentration, minerality and intensity. It reveals notes of fresh blackberry, pulpy/fresh blackcurrant and more lightly bursting black berries associated with fine points of pulpy violet plum, sweet spices, violet, cardamom, graphite and a very discreet hint of pepper (in the background). On the palate, fresh, balanced, mineral and offers a juicy/acidic frame, minerality, good definition, some tension, precision as well as a certain delicacy, a little power, a nice airy character, a certain delicacy (in its richness). The wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy black currant, boysen bursting blackberry and more lightly fresh raspberry combined with hints of pulpy blue berries, licorice stick as well as discreet graphite, toast and a subtle hint of chocolate/mocha (in the background). The tannins are precise, distinguished and polished.”
91/100 Decanter “Ripe black fruit and cinnamon touches on the nose - exotic spices and ripe fruits. Juicy and lifted, lovely supple texture, just bright acidity, a much lighter expression than many. Tannins are super-fine, barely present and this is much more about the fruit speaking. Some hints of salt and herbs, cola, blueberries and raspberries. Joyous, with a light touch. Just so light but clean and precise. Layers of slate, acidity and freshness. Accessible and fun.”
