Solid, foursquare with dense tannins that will gracefully meld into the fruit, the wine should age well. "

95/100 Terre de Vins
"Delicately cocoa-like aromas, with deep black fruit character; the nose is highly elegant. For his final vintage at the helm of Cantemerle, Philippe Dambrine delivers a very fine wine—mocha-rich, creamy, built around a juicy palate adorned with refined tannins and perfectly controlled oak aging."

94/100 Markus Del Monego MW
”Dark Purple colur with violet hue and black core. Expressive nose with ripe fruit, fresh blackcurrants and elderberries, elegant vanilla and mild spices, fine toasting aroma with hint of chocolate and mocha. On the palate well structured with precision, silky and ripe tannins, fine acidity, excellent freshness, subtle oak with very fine toasting flavour, oriental spices. A wonderful and savoury Cantemerle with excellent potential.”

94/100 WinesCritic.com
"Juicy and intense showing notes of lavender, wild violet, hyacinth and hibiscus. Full bodied, elegant and tasty showing a notable quality of material which immediately reveals itself with smoothness and personality. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot."

94/100 James Suckling
"Aromas of blackcurrants and kirsch with hints of dried blood orange, licorice and cocoa. Medium- to full-bodied with layers of well-integrated, finely polished tannins. Structured and toned with a fresh and lively fruit-forward palate, seasoned with spices and dried herbs. Lingering, chalky finish. Delicious now, but better after 2026."

92-94/100 Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider
"Dark, juicy cherries, bitter chocolate, savory herbs and a touch of espresso start the wine off. Medium-bodied, bright and energetic, with a lot of lift in the red fruits on the palate, this will age and develop nicely."

92-94/100 Y. Castaing, Anthocyanes
"Fresh fruits, a lovely, almost indulgent nose, with appealing notes of graphite. A juicy palate with a fleshy texture, abundant tannins, toasted and woody notes, and a clean, fresh finish. A Cantemerle that is far less austere than in previous years."

93/100 Decanter
"This has the tight tannins of the vintage with damson and an edge of bitter dark chocolate, but it is a success all the same - confident, succulent, elegant and classic. Philippe Dambrine retires as director of the estate as of this vintage, replaced by Laure Canu from Château Angélus. A yield of 45hl/ha, 40% new oak, 6% Petit Verdot completes the blend."

93/100 Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux
”Ruby red colour, bursting with brambled fruit, these are young and still closed down tannins, trace of chalkiness, opening to show cassis and blueberry fruit, sleek and pretty. Attrractive austerity in this wine gives this a savoury quality, medium bodied, with cocoa bean and mint left on the finish. Tasted twice, love the aromatics after a good few hours of opening. 45hl/ha yield, 40% new oak”

93/100 VV Wine
"(58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 7% Caberrnet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot, 13.5% alcohol) What a beautiful scent, red and dark berries combine with subtle roasted notes, a little violet, also spices, complex. Top on the palate, straightforward, balanced, elegant, finest tannins, perfect acid structure, a wine with a lot of life and charm, will be fun early on and can still mature well. 2025-2040+ (Tasted on November 8, 2022 in Zurich)"

93/100 Revista Adega
"Grand Cru Classé in 1855, situated on the deep gravel soils of the communes of Macau and Ludon, in Haut-Médoc. Vineyards composed of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Petit Verdot. The perfume of Bordeaux... Cherries, suede, with succulent fruit. Tannins of excellent texture and vibrant acidity.”

92/100 Robert Parker
"The 2020 Cantemerle has turned out well in bottle, offering up aromas of rich black fruits, plums, pencil shavings and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, broad and fleshy, with ripe, powdery structuring tannins and a nicely defined finish, it's generous and expressive while remaining classically proportioned."
